New Year's Eve...

I have to admit, some things in 2012 weren't the best, but we did have some good times. For example,we did have a white Christmas, which hasn't happened in awhile. Not only that, but we still have that snow, and more!  =)  I wonder if I'll be more organized, when it comes to the yarn stash this coming year...yeah right!!  =)  Anyway,I would like to wish you all a happy and safe New Year!

Night Before,the Night Before

Here is another little update, written in December 23rd,2012. The majority of the leftover decorations are up,my bedroom is decorated half-way,all the cookies have been baked (except for the candy, which was cancelled),the house is somewhat clean,I have a bag of bows for gift decorating,5 out of 6 of my gifts have been crocheted,my dad and I went around town tonight looking at Christmas lights, and we had pizza for dinner. Well, okay, the last one doesn't really count. The pizza was good, though! Anyway,as I said I have one gift left. It's for my dad,and I'm hoping he will like it!  =) Well,I guess that's it,for now.

Bye!

I Blame...

Carol Duvall. Yes,Carol Duvall. You see,I got an idea from this vhs tape. http://www.amazon.com/Carol-Duvalls-Holiday-Crafts/dp/B0006GRITY/ref=sr_1_4?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1356042317&sr=1-4&keywords=carol+duvall
I got this tape from the Salvation Army for 29 cents, and my mom and I decided to watch it. One project in particular caught our eyes. It was a project on how to make ornaments from Styrofoam and fabric. Without giving away the whole tutorial, you basically stab fabric into the Styrofoam ball, all the way around. This got me thinking. I was wondering if you could take this tutorial, and make a Christmas tree? So,I went to AcMoore and Walmart, and I got a Styrofoam cone, half a yard of green fabric, and a wire stem silver star. I got to work, and the entire process took about four days, off and on. My mom glued on the circle of felt onto the base of the tree, and it was done. Here it is!

I also made a crochet chain garland for it. Overall,I enjoyed to process, except for one little detail. This was very messy! I ended up with fabric bits and Styrofoam all over my lap every time I worked on this! It was fun, though.  =) Now here is a little update. Some of the cookies have been baked, the temperature is getting closer to the coldness of snow, and I still have three gifts to crochet by Christmas. Oh,and I still have yet to decorate my bedroom. Not too much to do,right?  =) Here are the links for everything.

Wow!

I can't believe how close we are to Christmas! The majority of the Christmas decorations are up,and the outside of the house is all lit up. My mom thinks the outdoor decorations make the house look like something out of the fifties. As for gifts,I have managed to finish crocheting a frog for my mom,a Christmas wreath for my Grandpa, and a little ornament with a smiley face on it for my cousin Kate. I say managed, because I haven't felt very good for the past three days. I can't figure out if it's just my allergies going haywire,or if it's a cold of some sort. Who knows? Anyway,I'll just leave you with a short, parting message. I think I need a nap.
Bye!

December Birthday

Today is my Birthday! =) Sorry,I had to do it. Anyway,I turned 19 years old today. One of my aunts says I'm 8 years old.  =)  I just finished doing a little shopping around town with my dad. I got three scarves from the Dollar Tree,a couple books, two Sailor Moon vhs tapes, and a crochet blanket kit at Salvation Army, and a couple of magazines at Barnes and Noble! I guess you can tell I had a good time. I had pizza for dinner, and I'm going to have ice cream cake for dessert. Well,I guess that's it for now. Here are the links for the stores we went to,and the Sailor Moon tapes.

Christmas Tree

Here is a photo of our Christmas tree.

I'm sorry it's so dark. You can click on the photo to make it larger. It only has the lights and star on it so far,but I hope it will be decorated by my Birthday. My Birthday is December 4th,so I guess we will have to kick it into high gear! We have quite a few ornaments,if you're wondering. Anyway,we also have a few other Christmas decorations up,but not too many just yet. I'm also in the process of figuring out what to make for people this year. I think I'll make less gifts this year, though (personal opinion). Oh,here is another thing about this tree. The tree and I are the same age! We are both 19 years old this year (well, only the tree is right now). To tell you the truth,I only found that out this year! -_- I guess I should have asked.  =)  Well,I think that's it. Bye-bye!

Craft Fair Results

We seemed to lift that sense of dread that we had on our shoulders yesterday, because we did quite nicely today. We made $81.00 total! That's great for us,considering that we only managed to sell very little at the other craft fair this month. Not only that,my mom and I managed to spot a girl wearing a crocheted scarf I sold two years ago at a craft fair, and she remembered that she got it from our table! I was rather pleased by that.  =)  We didn't buy anything other than some baked goods. I also managed to crochet a little plushie wreath while we were selling stuff! Here she is!

She is crocheted from this pattern:http://craftyalien.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-wreath-crochet.html
She was crocheted using a size 2.1mm steel crochet hook, using the yarn Brown Sheep Cotton Fine in the colorway CF360 Wild Sage, and Bergere de France Ciboulette in the colorway Light Yellow. The Bergere de France yarn is in an exclusive colorway for the magazine Simply Knitting. I hope you liked her! Here are the links for the yarn, and the magazine.

Craft Fair...

Well. Today has been a little off,to say the least. Usually when I go to a craft fair with my mom I'm all giddy the night before, but something doesn't seem right. I even ended up taking apart that snowman I was making! O_O  Oh,well. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.  =)  Anyway,I have another needle felted critter to show you in the mean time!

He is a needle felted hamburger! I made up the design myself. I ended up learning a new technique while I made him! The stripes on him for the mustard, lettuce, and burger are lengths of yarn felted on! I know,I may be a little too happy about that, but hey,I'm a beginner! I also embroidered on his face with yarn. The yarn I used for his stripes and face are Red Heart Super Saver,Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Peace and Love,AcMoore Fashion Mill Ends, and Lion Brand Wool-Ease. The wool I used for his body,is from the Dimensions Hedgehog Needle Felting Kit. Hey,I had some left over! Well,I hope you like him! Here are the links for the craft fair, kit, and the types of yarn.

Turkeys!...and an Update

Here is the turkey part of my post. The first two turkeys were crocheted in 2010,from this pattern.
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80744AD.html I can't remember what yarn I used for them,so I won't list any.
The third turkey was crocheted in 2011,from this pattern.
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/amigurumi-al-the-tiny-turkey The yarn I used for him are Phentex Merit,Pisgah Yarn & Dyeing Co. Inc, Peaches & Creme, and Red Heart Super Saver. Now,for the update, which is for this weekend's craft fair. I have made all of the Spherical Creatures and Sunny Flowers I made into tree ornaments, because this craft fair is Christmas themed.  That was my mom's idea.  =)  I have also crocheted a Christmas Tree, and I'm thinking of making a snowman, like the one I made a post for a little while ago on here. I think that will be it,for this craft fair. Anyway, here are the links to the yarn I used.

My Mom's Birthday

My mom's birthday is today, and she has turned 50 years old! She has cupcakes for her Birthday dessert, and a few nice presents. Here is part of what I'm giving to her.

He is made from this pattern: http://www.dappertoad.com/2011/12/free-mini-snowman-crochet-pattern.html
He is made from the yarns Lion Brand Wool-Ease,Red Heart Super Saver,Phentex Merit, and JoAnn Sensations Cuddle. I used a size E/4,3.50mm crochet hook to crochet him. I ended up just free-handing the carrot nose and the scarf. I hope my mom likes him! Here are the links for the yarns I used.

Yesterday's Craft Fair

Oooookay. Well, the craft fair yesterday didn't go as well as we hoped it would. First,my mom only managed to sell about thirteen dollars worth of stuff, and I only managed to sell...drum roll please...one item, priced at three dollars (chibi pumpkin). One! -_- (insert angry grumble here) Oh,well,I guess it could have been worse. Anyway,we have another craft fair this month (November 17th),so hopefully we will do better at that one. On the other hand,my mom and I got some stuff at the craft fair. I got some crochet hooks and some yarn, and my mom got herself a nice little Birthday present. She got a set of over twenty Christmas ornaments, and a wreath from a lady for $35.00. I think that was pretty good, and my mom was very happy which is always a plus.  =)  I'll have to take a few photos of the ornaments sometime. Something bizarre happened at the craft fair,as well. My mom and  two of my aunts (my mom's sisters) got to meet one of their family members that they haven't seen in close to thirty years! Hmm,I guess there were some reasons to go to this craft fair after all. So,I'm not trying to be mean towards this craft fair,it just wasn't right for us,so feel free to go there if they have it next year. Oh,and if you noticed,I did say my mom got herself a nice birthday present, right? Well, her Birthday is in a couple or so days (on November 7th),and she will be 50 years old! Except, there is one liiittle problem, though. I want to make something for my mom,but I haven't decided yet,and her Birthday is Wednesday!  O_O That's my own fault, though,so I guess I better get to crocheting (or knitting)!
Bye,then!

Craft Fair Update

I finally took photos of everything I'm selling at the craft fair on Saturday.

First,my Baby Monsters.

They are all made from the yarns Caron One Pound,Red Heart Super Saver Multi,JoAnn Sensations Angel Hair,AcMoore Fashion Mill Ends,Phentex Merit,Caron Simply Soft Paints, and Red Heart Debbie Stoller Alpaca Love.

These are made of the yarns Phentex Merit,AcMoore Fashion Mill Ends,Lion Brand Vanna's Choice,Lion Brand Wool-Ease,Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Baby,Lion Brand Amazing,Red Heart Super Saver, and Gala Mixed Fiber. I'm hoping to make two more chibi pumpkins, but I don't think I will make anything else after that. These chibi pumpkins are apparently very addicting for me to make.

Spooky the Bat

Here is a bat I crocheted recently.

The pattern I used to make him is here:http://justaddawesome.tumblr.com/post/11662561812/free-amigurumi-bat-pattern
I think the pattern is very well written, and fairly quick to make. The yarns I used to make him are Lion Brand Wool-Ease in 196 Zinnia, and Caron One Pound in 0501 White. I used a size F/5,3.75mm crochet hook. The Zinnia color is more purple in real life. For the craft fair,I now have five pumpkins, and three baby monsters. I'm not sure how much more I'm going to make, but I do know I still have some stuff left over from a past craft fair,so I can sell those as well. When it comes to Halloween updates, nothing has changed since yesterday. -_- Oh,well. I guess one good thing is that my mom has finished more stuff for the craft fair as well. She also has some leftover inventory,so she will sell that along with the stuff she has finished so far. Anyway, here are the links for the yarn I used.

I have one other thing to say before I leave. Is it bad I already have a Betty and Veronica Double Digest Christmas Issue?

Crocheted Pumpkins & Needle Felted Animals

Here are three of the pumpkins that I have made for the craft fair.

They are made of a combination of these types of yarn:Lion Brand Wool-Ease,Lion Brand Vanna's Choice,Phentex Merit, and AcMoore Fashion Mill Ends. I have so far made four pumpkins, and three Baby Monsters. I still have to take photos of the Baby Monsters and the other pumpkin. I keep on wondering if I should make anything Christmas-like or not,but I did just think of something that might work. A Christmas colored Baby Monster? Maybe! Now for the needle felted animals.

I'm sorry the photos are so dark. Anyway,I decided to jump into the world of needle felting! I got this Dimensions needle felting kit at Michael's the other day. The kit is for a hedgehog, but I decided to make up my own owl too! I think they are cute. I still need to perfect the thickness of their bodies, though. They feel a little squishy, but they do hold together. Now,here is a Halloween update. I have a bad feeling everything will be very last minute this year. The Halloween display outside Isn't finished,we don't have all the candy for the trick-or-treaters,and I'm not entirely sure when we will be able to carve pumpkins. Oh,well. I guess we will try our best, and hopefully everything will come together in the end! Here are the links to everything.

Flea Market Crocheted Finds

Last week on Sunday,my dad and I went to the Flea Market and Antiques Show, and I came away with a few crocheted finds that I'm rather pleased with. First, the doilies/hot pads.

I love how much detail went into these older doilies/hot pads! The third one is particularly detailed, with all the flowers and leaves surrounding it. We paid $1.00 each for these. And the second thing is this little crocheted doll I got from the same lady.

Unfortunately, the photo makes it look dirty. Anyway,I'm not sure how old he is,but he is rather cute! It looks like the main body of it was made in two pieces that were crocheted together. I'm not sure how they made the hat, though. The embroidered face is still fairly bright in color, and the body is made up of an off white color, and a very light pink color. We paid $3.00 for him. I do have more doilies and hot pads, but I would have to take photos first. If you want to see more details of the items in the photos, you can click on them and they will become bigger.

Halloween Kitchen

Here are a couple of photos of our Halloween lights in the kitchen. I love these blow molds, and the tree. The tree is a three foot tall pre-lit black Halloween tree, with orange lights. It's from Big Lots. The three blow molds are vintage (from the 1960's & maybe the 1950's). One of them we got for $2.99 at a local Salvation Army! The other three are a group of blow molds we got at an antiques store. My dad and I got them for about $34.00,I believe. I think that's a pretty good deal. I'm still working on stuff for the craft fair (rather miserably),and I can't keep myself from falling in love with the plushies I keep making!! I really need to stop doing that,or else I wont have anything to sell! -_-

Ah,well. Anyway, here are the links for the Halloween pre-lit tree,Salvation Army, and the antiques store.

Salvation Army:http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/www_usn_2.nsf
We still have a long list of things to do for Halloween, and I don't know how much stuff on that list will be finished this weekend, but I do know this...I have a bag of Dum-Dum Pops waiting for me in the kitchen! Bye!

Um...a snowman??

Yes you read that correctly. A snowman. A crocheted snowman, that is. My mom and I are heading to a craft fair on November 3rd,and I was trying to think of things to make. Being the snowman collector I am,I decided to make up a crocheted snowman. Here he is!

He isn't going to be sold, though, because he is a prototype, and in this house prototypes rarely get sold. He does have arms, but you can't really see them in the photo. I made up the pattern for him as I went along. He is made of the yarns Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Forest Heather,Lion Brand Wool-Ease Sparkle in White/Multi,Lily Sugar'n Cream in Tangerine,Red Heart Super Saver in Black, and Phentex Merit in Medium Brown (this isn't the official color name,I just made that up). That was a long list! Anyway,I used a size E/4,3.50mm crochet hook for him. The other things I'm thinking of making are these Baby Monsters I made up,plain pumpkins in a variety of colors, and possibly more Christmas items. I'm not sure how much Christmas stuff I want to make for this craft fair, though, because it is more of a fall fair. It also depends on how much time I get to make things, considering Halloween is about two weeks away! 0_0 Oh,well...I guess that is what I get for waiting. Here are the links for the yarn I used for this snowman.
Lion Brand Wool-Ease:http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/woolease.htm It is for both types.
Lily Sugar'n Cream:http://www.sugarncream.com/product.php?LGC=sugarncream
Red Heart Super Saver:http://www.redheart.com/yarn/super-saver-economy The economy version.
and Phentex Merit:https://www.mercersmarine.com/sagro/storefront/store.php?mode=showproductdetail&product=1460 I have never bought anything from this store, but I thought their page would give more information. Now,when it comes to the Halloween decorations being put up,the majority of the inside of the house has been decorated, and part of the Halloween display has gone up outside. I still have to take a few photos of the Halloween display, though. I'm not sure if I will be able to make much more Halloween plushies this year, but you never know. I might get tired of making stuff for the craft fair.  =)  Well,I believe that is it,for now. Bye!

Creepy Cloth & Crocheting...

Here is the result of my attempt at crocheting with creepy cloth last year.

He does have a mouth, but you can't see it very well in the photo. I basically cut and/or ripped the creepy cloth into strips, and I crocheted them. I did have to knot a few ends, though. I also had to make sure the strips were thick enough,or else the creepy cloth would just fall apart. The process became pretty straight forward after a while. It was a little bit on the messy side, though. Oh,well. I guess that is what I get for crocheting with creepy cloth.  =]  For the eyes,I just crocheted two circles for the backing, and I used black safety eyes for the pupils. I can't remember the details, like crochet hook sizes and the yarn for the eyes, but I have a feeling the crochet hook I used for the creepy cloth was a larger sized one. Well,I believe that's it. I hope you like my Creepy Cloth Creature!

Halloween Candles,and a Little Update

I just wanted to show you our Halloween candle collection.

This photo is of the Gurley (or we believe to be) candles.

Here are the pumpkins & jack-o-lanterns (plus another photo of the biggest one).

The tombstones,

and the rest of them.

Here is a close up shot of the ghost in the treat bag with the hollow jack-o-lantern.

Now for the update. More and more Halloween decorations have been going up. My mom and I have been watching Halloween cartoons and such, and we finally have a bag of candy corn taffy! Yaaaaaay!!  =]  Sorry,I couldn't help myself. Anyway, the Halloween spirit is continuing to stroll it's way into our household for sure. I couldn't find a link to the candy corn taffy I was talking about, but we usually get it at Walmart. Here is a link to Walmart's website.
