The Story of Cindy and Debbie

Cindy and Debbie were found in my great grandparent's attic, which is now our family home. My mother found them in a pile of papers and books. They were in pretty bad shape, dirty, and had been chewed on by mice. She was going to throw them out. She then put them in a pile destined for the trash bin,and kept on cleaning. As my mother started to go down the attic stairs, she heard something fall behind her. It was Cindy and Debbie, laying on the stairs! Looking at them, she decided to see if she could save them. That was in the year 1982.

Cindy and Debbie spent the next ten years in a closet, waiting. In 1992,my mother decided in was time to get them out,and fix them up. She was watching some of our family member's children at the time, and after fixing them up,the children decided one would be named Cindy, and the other one would be named Debbie.

Cindy and Debbie are pictures from calendars that date to the years 1908 (Cindy),and 1909 (Debbie). The frames were also found in my great grandparents home. The lace that is around Cindy is also from the early 1900's. Here are the girls photos.

 This is Cindy,
and this is Debbie.

I hope you enjoyed this story.

p.s. This story is mainly written my my mom,but I changed and lengthened it a little bit.

It Has Begun...

Decorating for Halloween!! Sorry,I just had to get that out. Anyway,we have started to decorate for Halloween around here. You might be thinking, "but it's still August!". Yes I know, but we have a lot of decorations for Halloween in this house (that, and we seem to have the Halloween spirit running through our veins). The cups and bowls are out,the ghost salt & peppers shakers are out,the witch blanket is on the back of the couch (with a monster,a yarn doll,a scarecrow,a multi colored snake, and a little ghost),the framed pictures and postcards are up in the bathroom, and my mom has been making assorted Halloween critters (with yarn). That was a long sentence.  =]  Well,I think that is all I have to say right now. Well....except this.

The black cats want to wish you all an early Happy Halloween!

Grandpa's Flowers

Our grandpa brought some of his flowers down to our house yesterday.

The flowers are called glads,or gladiolus. The colors are dark pink, light pink, and purple. He likes to bring these flowers to us from his garden sometimes. Well,I guess that is it.
Bye!

Nick's Birthday

Today is my brother Nick's 21st Birthday! He seems pretty excited about it,too. He is getting a blanket,a body pillow,a side table, and various vhs tapes and candy. Nick is autistic,so that is why these gifts may sound a little different, but it is the kind of stuff he likes. Anyway,I just want to wish you a Happy Birthday,Nick!  =]

Lilac the Bear

Here is my crocheted bear, named Lilac.

She is kind of vintage inspired. She took me a few days to crochet (off & on),but I think it was worth it. I wasn't very creative with the name, though. Lilac is the colorway name for the yarn I chose.  -_-  Oh,well. Anyway, the yarn I used for Lilac is Pound of Love from the Lion Brand yarn company. The yarn I used for her bow is Bamboo Nature Blends from the Bernat yarn company, and the yarn I used to embroider on her face is Super Saver from the Red Heart yarn company. I used a size E/4,3.50mm crochet hook for her body, and a size J/10,6.00mm crochet hook for her bow. I also crocheted a round tail for her,but that isn't in the pattern. The pattern I used to make her is called Buttercup Bear,by Yellow,Pink and Sparkly. Here is the web address for the pattern.
http://yellowpinkandsparkly.blogspot.com/2010/07/buttercup-bear.html
It is a free pattern. Here are the web addresses for the yarn companies I listed earlier.

http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=bamboo (bow color)

Well,I hope this information helps, and I believe that is it!
Bye!

Ghost Post

I decided to do a group photo of the crocheted and knitted ghosts and spirits I have made recently.

I hope I will be able to make more by the time Halloween comes around. Here are the links for the patterns I used to make these ghosts and spirits.

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tiny-ghosts (the biggest one)

http://www.willynillyknits.com/patterns/free-pattern-amigurumi-ghost/ (the medium sized one)

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/boo-the-ghost (the mini one,and I used crochet thread for it)

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/will-o-the-wisp (and this is the grey one)

The last one is more of a spirit then a ghost (it is a will o the wisp),but I thought they went together very well. Well,I think that is it,for now.
