Christmas update

Most of the decorations are up,some of the presents are being made and have been bought, the lights are up,the turkey is in the refridgerator, and the cookies would have been baked if we had chocolate chips (oh well). I have finished most of the gifts I'm giving to people. I'm giving little Christmas wreath crnaments to six of my relatives, and I'm making some of the ornaments I made for the craft fairs for my mom, dad, and one of my brothers. One of the only differences for their ornaments,is that they don't have scarves. I figured it would be faster to make them without the scarves. Apparently I was correct, because I finished two of them last night. I have finally finished the crocheted snowman I started awhile ago. I felt sorry for him,so he has two big buttons down the front, and he has five french knots for his mouth. I also made him a scarf made out of a red white and green multi-colored yarn. I have also gotten into making lacy crocheted covers for ornaments. I have made two so far. One has a gold metallic cover, and the other one has a red white and green multi-colored cover. I used green matte ornaments for mine. Well,I guess that is it for now.

Christmas tree,and a Birthday

The lights and the star went on the Christmas tree last night. It took so long to do,because the other set of lights, and our star just seemed to vanish into thin air! We have no clue what happened. Oh,well. We went out last night and got more lights, and another star. It's a good thing they still make the same type of star. Hopefully the tree will be decorated tonight. And now onto the birthday news. It will be my birthday tomorrow. I got to go to an alpaca farm today,to get something for myself for my birthday. That was rather fun. =] I also have an update on my crocheted blanket I have been making. I have three full strips crocheted together, and the fourth strip crocheted part of the way. Each strip has twelve squares. I'm not quite sure how big I want this blanket to get,but we will see. Well,I think that is all,for now.

Craft fair news, and a Christmas tree

The craft fair last Saturday was a bit better than the one before it that we went to. My mom sold some of her jewelry, and some of her yarn dolls. One of my cousins sold some of her god's eyes again. I ended up selling two of my crocheted ornaments, and one of my Christmas treat bags. Our Christmas tree is half-way up now. Hopefully it will be lit tomorrow night. It will probably will take a while to put on the ornaments, though. Oh well,it's worth it once it is done. The Christmas garland and lights are up on the fence outside as well. Well,my crocheted blanket is coming along nicely. I have 19 of the squares crocheted together, and I have another one about half-way crocheted. Well,I think that is it,for now.

handspun yarn

I started spinning yarn again today. I just finished washing the yarn a few minutes ago. I spun one with merino wool in a light blue color,in a single ply. I over spun that yarn a little. I also spun a yarn out of a dark teal blue bamboo, plied with a sparkly, rainbow colored thread. That one I didn't spin too much, but I only spun about 2 1/2 yards of that one. I guess I'm using it as a trim on something. I do have more of the bamboo roving, and the thread,so I might make some more. I spun about 28 yards of the merino yarn. The house is mostly decorated for Thanksgiving now. My two crocheted turkeys I made last year are up now. My mom's Thanksgiving yarn octopi are up as well.

Craft Fair and other news

Well, the craft fair didn't go so well. My mom sold some of her jewelry, but I didn't sell anything. I guess it wasn't the right craft fair for us. One of my cousins sold quite a few of her god's eyes, though. My mom and I were thinking I should turn some of my toys into Christmas ornaments for the next craft fair. I made one for my mom to go with a Christmas yarn doll she made. I put a stocking cap and a scarf on it. If your wondering what crochet toys I made, they are just crocheted round plushies with a smile face on them. It was nice when three of my family members showed up at the craft fair, though. It made the day a little better. I still haven't gotten to finishing my mom's toy frog yet,but hopefully I will soon. I also need to figure out what to make for family members this year. I am thinking of making a new blanket. I'm just making 5 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches squares, and sewing them together. I have made three squares so far. It would be nice if I could post photos of some of the things my mom and I make, but I can't figure out how to upload photos onto our computer. Oh,well. I think that is it for now.

....

Well,I didn't get the frog plushie finished in time for my mom's birthday, but I will work on it a bit more at some point. I have to take a break from it for right now in order to finish the rest of the stuff for the craft show, because it is this weekend. I'm also making Christmas colored treat bags. I made some of these for a craft fair in September in Halloween colors,so my mom thought it would be a nice idea to make some in Christmas colors. My mom is busy making yarn octopuses for the craft fair. It is interesting to hear older Christmas movies from in the kitchen while she is making them. Well,I think that is it for now.

...

Well,I have been a little busy recently. I have recently strarted to crochet Christmas toys. I have most of one snowman done, and a part of another crocheted. I started knitting a frog the other night for my mom. I don't know if I will have it finished in time for her birthday, but we'll see. I might be able to crochet a frog in time for my mom's birthday, just in case I can't finish the other one. My mom and I have been getting ready for November craft shows recently. I have been crocheting small toys for them, and I have thirteen finished. I have mostly been experimenting with crocheting toys out of different kinds of yarn. I don't know if I will make anymore at this point. Well,I think that's everything for now.

A lot of crocheted and knitted toys later...

I'm still making crocheted and knitted toys. Let's see...I've made variouas crocheted octopi, including one that was about 33 1/2 inches around (it was a good way to get rid of some yarn),A test knit for a toy pattern,a test knit for one of my one patterns (hopefully a butterfly,or some kind of un-identified bug),a crocheted owl,and a crocheted dog. Well,I think that's about it for now.

.............................................................

Well,I've been crocheting and knitting quite a few plush toys. I've made candy corn, ghosts, octopi, turtles, these little crocheted square pet things I made up,and a few bracelets. Our mom has been making yarn octopuses again. Let's see...what else...I can't think of much else.

What have I been up to?

Well,I've crocheted two frogs (both for our mom) , a monkey (for our dad) , a bird (for our mom) , and I've crocheted a plush turtle named Fredrick. That doesn't sound very exciting, does it? I'm also working on a knitted pattern by the designer Alan Dart, named Hare Brained. It is a hare. One of the frogs I made, and the monkey, are from a crochet booklet. Let's see, what else? Oh,and our mom is working on yarn octopuses again. This time, she is also making some yarn dolls. Well,I think that's all,for now.

......................................????????

Well, let's see here. What should I talk about? Well,a good amount of the household is decorated for Easter. I've been crocheting various toys, including an owl that I really like. Oh,great, another pattern I like. I've also started crocheting flowers. It's rather interesting (to me) to see how different each flower looks, made out of a different yarn.

...??

Well, the homemade pretzels were a success. To the point that she made more. This time she made cheese and pepperoni ones. Tonight, she is going to try to make mini pizzas with some flour tortillas. Kind of like the pretzels, this may be interesting. Well, another thing that has been going on this week,is that I'm crocheting and knitting various plush toys. One of them is a Tabby Cat I'm knitting for one of my brothers, and another is a crocheted bunny that I'm trying to put together. We'll see how that goes. I also knitted a pair of small wristwarmers. They're not very fancy, they're just a knitted square that is 24 stitches long, and is knitted on size 6 us knitting needles. Well,I think that's enough for now.

Homemade pretzels

Our mom is attempting to make homemade pretzels. She is using frozen bread dough. I'm just wondering if it would taste different with the bread dough. This may be interesting.

Finished Sweater

Well,I finished that knitted sweater I was making. It was a little interesting, when I messed up the sleeves, and I had to take them out,and fix them. It worked the second time, though. That's all for now.

Sweater Update

Well,I have one sleeve done, and a few inches done on one part of the body. Well, now I'm off to watch the cartoon pocoyo.  =]

A Sweater,and a Yarn Octopus

Okay, that a bit of an interesting title for a post. Anyway, our Mom just finished a new octopus recently, that is for one of our cousins. It is meant to look like Alucard from the anime Hellsing. He is a vampire...I guess she likes to make vampire yarn octopuses. Okay, now for the sweater part. I'm starting to knit my first sweater. It is from the Hooded Knitted Sweater pattern, from the Lion Brand yarn website. I'm making mine with striped arms, and one color on the top and bottom of the sweater, and the other color for the rest of the body of the sweater. The sweater is made out of Lion Brand Homespun yarn. I believe that is the yarn they reccomend for the sweater pattern. The colors I chose are,Covered Bridge Red,and Holly, from their Holiday version of their Homespun yarn. I'm sorry there are no pictures. We can't figure out how to upload pictures from our camera,to the computer,at the moment. Well,I think that is it for now. It figures that I had more to say about the sweater, than the yarn octopus...go figure.

...

Hi,nice to meet you all. This blog will possibly be a bit random at times, but more likely mostly be about arts and crafts related things.
